Mayowa's Money To Join Cowboys 'Wave'

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - A few days ago, Benson Mayowa qualified as a "no-name.'' Today, he qualifies as a Cowboy.
Oakland has declined to match Dallas' offer to the restricted free-agent pass-rush prospect, who played in 28 games for the Raiders the past two seasons, collecting three starts, two sacks and a forced a fumble.
Mayowa, 24, is seen as a player with upside, the 6-3, 240-pounder from Idaho who went undrafted but is now projected as a right end. Dallas wins him with an offer sheet that pays him $4 million in 2016: ($3.3 mil bonus, $700,000 base), $2.5 mil base in 2017 and $2.75 mil base in 2018.
The Cowboys need pass-rush help and plan to do it in what defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli likes to call "waves'' — multiple combinations of fresh guys. Mayowa isn't a "name.'' But he's a wave and he's a Cowboy.
