Mavs Cuban: 'Fair' To Let Jefferson Go To Cavs

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - The DeAndre Dominoes continue to fall for the Mavs … fall backwards, that is.
DeAndre Jordan's flip-flop away from Dallas and back to the Clippers via free agency has resulted in raises for signees Wes Matthews and J.J. Barea and now it's resulted in a recommitment from Richard Jefferson, the veteran swingman who was to return to Dallas bench this season.
Mavs owner Mark Cuban called it "fair'' and "in the Mavs' best interests'' to permit Jefferson to go ring-chasing in Cleveland. The owner labeled the 37-year-old as "first-class'' and noted, "He told me that if I wouldn't (agree to let him go) he'd honor his word'' and remain with the Mavs, with whom he averaged 5.8 points a game in almost 17 minutes while shooting 42 percent from three.
Jefferson will join LeBron James in Cleveland while the Mavs will continue to not only fill the bottom of the roster (with players like Jarrid Famous and John Jenkins) but also work to acquire a starting-caliber center to work in tandem with veteran signee Zaza Pachulia.
