DALLAS (AP) — A bronze marker has been installed near the spot at Dallas Love Field where Lyndon B. Johnson took the oath of office to become president after the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.

A City of Dallas spokesman said the marker was installed Thursday morning. Johnson was sworn in aboard Air Force One while it was parked on the tarmac.

Later, a duplicate of the marker will be placed by a window at the airport that looks out onto the spot.

The spokesman says the marker on the tarmac wasn't placed at the exact spot because it's an air operations area and they didn't want the marker damaged. Eventually a light will be installed to mark the exact spot.
