Mark Cuban Cast As President In 'Sharknado 3'

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- Mark Cuban has always considered himself a "performer'' of sorts and often gets asked about running for office.

Enter Syfy's "Sharknado 3.''

Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks who also dives head-first into chances to show his acting chops, will be part of the cast of the corny TV hit, playing the President of the United States.

"I'm doing it,'' Cuban tells me, confirming a story from "Hollywood Reporter.'' "Why not? It'll be fun.''

Cuban has had fun playing himself on "Entourage,'' on "Shark Tank,'' on "Dancing With The Stars'' and elsewhere, and was dabbling in acting even 20 years ago (playing "Macho Mark'' in a movie called "Talking About Sex.'') He's also served as an executive producer in critically-acclaimed films such as "Good Night, And Good Luck'' and "Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room.''

Here, he'll serve as the Leader of the Free World while conservative commentator/author Ann Coulter will play the vice president, as stars Tara Reid and Ian Ziering lead a cast trying to keep sharks from causing "mass destruction in the nation's capital."

Also reportedly in the oddball cast: Bo Derek, Chris Jericho and Jerry Springer.
