Second suspect arrested, charged with murder of Mansfield teen
MANSFIELD — Two men have been arrested and charged with murder for fatally shooting a teen in a residential area, police said.
Michael Adrean Spencer, 19, was arrested without incident on Wednesday. He is the second suspect arrested in connection to the Sept. 19 shooting.
Last Friday, Mansfield SWAT officers arrested 21-year-old Elijah Hatton without incident at an apartment complex in East Dallas.
Mansfield police initially responded to a call for a welfare check just after 4:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Cutting Horse Drive.
The 17-year-old victim, who has not been identified, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound. After life-saving measures were performed, he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Medical Examiner's Office will identify the victim and notify the next of kin, according to Mansfield police.
"Further details about how or why the incident occurred are still under investigation," police said.
