DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Denton on Monday morning arrested an individual who was brandishing a knife at a school campus. It happened at about 9:45 a.m. at Tomas Rivera Elementary School, located in the 700 block of Newton Street.

The campus is a part of the Denton Independent School District.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in the building's front office. He was clutching a pocketknife. Authorities also stated that the suspect was "sweating and acting paranoid."

That man was placed under arrest for public intoxication, but officials explained that he could face additional charges once an investigation of the incident has been completed. The suspect's name has not been released.

Campus administrators placed the elementary school in lockdown while this incident was unfolding. The suspect was not able to get beyond the school's front office at any point, and never actually threatened anyone in the school, police said.
