FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) –  Neighbors are on alert in a Fort Worth neighborhood, after a family says the man accused of kidnapping their little girl was a stranger.

For hours, the family of a 6-year-old Fort Worth girl held on to hope. "We give thanks to God that we have our daughter back," proclaims the father of the 6-year-old. We're not naming the child, to protect her identity.

The girl was sleeping in their home around 10 o'clock on Friday night, but when her father woke around 4 am the front door was open and the 6-year-old was gone.

She was found at a park about a half mile from her home. When police got there, the suspect ran into the woods, and the little girl ran towards police.

Edis Moya Alas has been arrested and is currently being held on a $200,000 bond, charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault of a child. He is in the United States illegally according to ICE.

Fort Worth Police are still investigating if Edis Moya Alas, of El Salvador knew the family or if he broke into a random home.

While police are investigating the crime, neighbors aren't taking any chances with their own kids. "Now, I just keep them here, be like, don't go outside. Come back before sundown," says Daniel Zapien, who lives in the neighborhood.
