On August 19, detectives with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office assisted the FBI with a search warrant regarding McGovern's distribution of child pornography.

They served the warrant at McGovern's home near Mansfield. Probable cause for the warrant was obtained after McGovern electronically distributed child porn.

During the course of the search, detectives and agents seized digital evidence on computers and cameras.

McGovern wasn't arrested at the time of the search but detectives obtained an arrest warrant for McGovern on Tuesday based on evidence found during the search and from a video that was already in the possession of the FBI. The video showed McGovern performing sexual acts with two children under the age of 6 years old.

Extensive effort was made to locate McGovern by numerous law enforcement agencies this week.

Detectives believe McGovern was attempting to elude capture.

A Johnson County Detective and a Texas Ranger found him after he committed suicide.
