Theft Suspect Tased After Chase Through Garland And Rockwall

GARLAND/ROWLETT (CBSDFW.COM) - A man was tased after a wild chase through Garland and Rowlett.
Police said the chase started in Garland where the suspect took off after an alleged theft at a Kohl's store off Highway 78 around 2:30 p.m.
Garland Police said store employees had identified two suspects by a bulletin that had been sent internally from other Kohl's locations were the same men had allegedly stolen several thousand dollars in merchandise.
When police arrived, they tried to stop the driver of a grey Ford F-150 pickup.
But police said the driver, Clinton Tyrone Lang, 38, sped out and was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the George Bush Turnpike. Police did not pursue him once he was driving the wrong direction.
A DPS helicopter followed the suspect from the air as Lang entered Rowlett.
The chase continued into Rockwall County on I-30 where Lang jumped from the truck and began running across the highway.
A Rockwall County deputy used a taser on Lang and took him into custody.
Lang is charged with evading arrest and theft.
The second suspect, who was captured near the store is Jimmy Orlando Wheeler, 49. He will be charged with theft.
