FORT WORTH — A man was shot Thursday while officers were investigating a domestic disturbance in northwest Fort Worth.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of Seafield Lane. Fort Worth police said reports indicated a man was intoxicated and discharged several rounds of gunfire inside a home.

When officers arrived at the scene, they attempted to make contact with the man using loud hailing, or speaking to him through a bullhorn. While doing so, police said they heard more gunshots coming from the home.

The man then exited the home and fired his weapon at officers, according to police. Officers then returned fire, striking the man.

The man was taken to a local hospital and as of Friday morning is in critical condition.

Police said no officers or other people were injured during the incident.

An investigation is underway for the events surrounding the incident.
