GALVESTON (AP) — A Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for a 2014 slaying using an ice pick.

Thomas Ray Graham was sentenced Wednesday by a judge. Graham, who lived in the Galveston-area, earlier pleaded guilty to murder in the attack in Texas City.

Investigators say Graham fell asleep in an abandoned house, awoke to find another man inside and attacked him using an ice pick and a knife.

Police found the body of Lindsey Gamble based on information received from Graham, who following the slaying took a taxi to Houston. Authorities say Graham used a knife to stab the cabbie, who survived and reported the attack.

Graham approached a Houston police officer saying he wanted to confess to a killing in Texas City. The ice pick was found near the abandoned house.
