Man Sentenced To 43 Years For Abusing 2 Sisters
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A 40-year-old Fort Worth man was sentenced to 43 years in prison without parole for molesting two sisters on separate occasions at his Fort Worth home.
Jurors deliberated several hours before convicting Christopher J. Gonzalez on Friday of continuous sexual abuse of children under 14 – a charge that is punishable by 25 years to life in prison with no possibility for parole.
Later in the day, the jury deliberated a little over an hour before assessing the 43-year prison term. Gonzalez will be 83 years old before he is released from prison.
During the trial in state district Judge Elizabeth Beach's court, prosecutors Melinda Westmoreland and Anna Hernandez presented evidence that Gonzalez and his wife were related to the girls and regularly watched them while their parents worked nights.
In January 2013 the youngest girl, then age 3, told her mother that Gonzalez made her touch his genitals and that it had also happened to her older sister. The older girl described an incident that occurred when she was age 4. She asked for a fruit rollup and Gonzalez blindfolded her and put his genitals in her mouth. She also described an event that happened when she was age 6 and Gonzalez made her touch him inappropriately.
The girls' father called police, an investigation was launched and Gonzalez was subsequently arrested and, this week, convicted for sexually abusing the girls.
