ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Police have issued a crime alert on the University of Texas at Arlington campus after a second student was robbed at gunpoint in the past week. The latest one happened Thursday afternoon in a parking lot in the 1200 block of South West Street.
A male student was approached and asked for directions by another man, who then pulled out a gun. The robber ran off with the student's wallet and phone.
Other students at the Arlington campus said that they feel the west side parking lot is safe, but are still avoiding the area to be cautious. "I feel very safe. There's always a police officer around," said freshman Alex Koke. "Of course, it's concerning for the people in the area, but it hasn't affected me as much just because of the precautions being taken."
Witnesses described the suspect's car as a black, two-door Pontiac. The license plate begins with the letters FBR, but the rest of the plate was not recorded. Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact police immediately.
