Burglary Turns Deadly, Father Of Three Killed Outside Family's Apartment
GARLAND, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A father of three was shot and killed while confronting a suspect or suspects who were trying to break into his work truck at a Garland apartment complex, police say.
His wife found his body.
Officers responded to the shooting call at around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of Dairy Road near Broadway Boulevard.
Police say a neighbor told the victim, Clifford Wayne Wicker, Jr., 29, that someone was trying to break into his truck.
According to police, when he went down to check on his truck, Wicker was shot multiple times by the suspect or suspects. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wicker's sister told CBS 11 News that was known as CJ, and was a hard-working father of three. He was a plumber with construction company Globus.
Police are now looking for a possible vehicle of interest, a 4-door tan or gold passenger vehicle, possibly a Crown Victoria. They are also asking for surveillance video facing Daily Road from Broadway Boulevard to Highway 66 between 11 p.m. and midnight.
They also confirm that Wicker's personal vehicle was stolen from the same apartment company on January 24. They are investigating to see if the two are related
The family released a picture of Wicker with his three children and are desperate for justice as police try to find any suspects.
