DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The man who jumped to his death Tuesday night from the 9th floor of the D/FW Airport Hyatt Regency faced charges of stealing more than $1.6 million from a teacher's group.

Police said Eugene Dickey, 65, jumped to avoid charges that he stole from the Texas Educational Theater Association.

He was the Chief Financial Officer for the Austin-based TETA.

Dickey bilked the group out of the money, according to court documents from the Travis County district attorney.
