Man Charged In Shooting Death Of Roommate Near Student Apartments In Denton
DENTON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A man died Saturday evening after he was found shot near a student apartment complex in Denton, and police now say his roommate has been charged in his death.
Police said they responded to the 200 block of S. Bonnie Brae Street, near the UC Denton apartment complex, in regards to an unconscious person.
Officers found the victim with a gunshot wound, police said. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim's identity has not yet been released.
During the investigation, police said they interviewed the victim's roommate, Kashanmustafa Ali, as a witness to the shooting. Police said Ali was found to have given "false information" on a possible suspect.
Police said they, ultimately, determined Ali was the person who shot the victim. Further information on the shooting was not immediately released.
Police said Ali was booked into Denton Jail on a manslaughter charge.
