DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A driver was killed early Monday morning in Dallas after exiting his vehicle and being struck by another passing driver, who failed to stop at the scene. The incident happened shortly after midnight in the 6800 block of North Central Expressway.

According to authorities, the driver and his 42-year-old female passenger were traveling northbound along the highway when their tan Buick Oldsmobile started overheating. The driver took the Lovers Lane exit ramp and pulled over along the roadway, but was unable to get the car all the way to the side. A portion of the vehicle was still sticking out into the righthand lane.

The female passenger exited the car and started flagging down passing vehicles. Then, the driver got out of the Buick and was struck by a woman in a silver Jeep.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to Baylor Medical Center at Dallas where he later died.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Jeep sped away from the scene in an unknown direction. Police are continuing to investigate this case and expect to charge the hit-and-run driver, when she is found, with failing to stop and render aid.
