Man Critically Injured After Shooting At Burleson Home

BURLESON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A man in his 40s was critically injured after a shooting at a home in Burleson Thursday morning.

Police say they responded at around 4:30 a.m. to a home in the 100 block of Redhaw Court.

According to police, two suspects entered through a window in the back of the house. During some type of confrontation the resident was shot in the stomach

The man was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in critical condition. His identity has not been released.

Police are still investigating what led to the shooting and what the two suspects were doing at the home. Officials say family members, including children, were in the home at the time of the shooting. No one besides the victim in his 40s was injured.

Authorities think the crime was a targeted robbery and don't believe there's any threat to residents in the area. "We're canvassing the neighborhood, talking to any neighbors trying to find out any details on the house," explained Bill Cordell, chief of the Burleson Police Department. "We understand these [residents] are renters who haven't lived here very long."

Detectives are checking nearby surveillance cameras for clues that could lead them to the suspects.
