GARLAND, TX (CBSDFW.COM) – The Garland police and fire departments responded to a home Monday afternoon where a man had reportedly barricaded himself in his home.

Officials say he has since been transported to the hospital.

The call originally came in as a fire. Officials said when the fire department tried to get into the house, someone inside yelled "get the hell away from here" and slammed the door shut.

Chopper 11 was above the scene and no smoke was visible but officers could be seen taking positions around the home. Officials had traffic blocked on Merrimac Trail most of the afternoon.

Officials said there were initially two people in the home and, according to witnesses, one other person did exit the house earlier.

There is no word on the condition of the man who was barricaded in the home.
