DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Authorities arrested a man Tuesday who is suspected of crashing his pickup truck through the metal gates outside of the Dallas County jail building.

Sheriff's deputies said that the driver now faces criminal mischief charges following the incident, which took place just before 1:00 a.m. early Tuesday. Officials did not comment on why the man might have rammed into the structure, but did say that he appeared to be distraught.

Authorities added that drug paraphernalia was also found inside of the man's vehicle. According to deputies, the suspect could face a variety of other charges as the investigation continues. The man's name was not immediately released.

The swinging mesh gates, located near the complex's South Tower, are in an area typically used by vendors and delivery truck drivers to enter the Lew Sterrett Justice Center. The suspect's truck ended up within the boundaries of the complex.

Deputies will be on duty outside of the gates until the barriers can be fixed. Nobody was injured during this incident.
