Man Arrested After Crashing Into Mesquite Home, Killing One

MESQUITE (KRLD) - One person is dead and another hospitalized after a truck crashed into a Mesquite home late Thursday night

Mesquite police say it happened shortly after 10:00 p.m. when 18-year-old Steven Tutt veered off East Glenn Boulevard and crashed his Chevy Avalanche into the front of the home on Seminary Ridge.

Two people inside the home were hit. Authorities identified the victims as Jose Reyes, 42, and Yesenia Vasquez. Reyes, who was in his bedroom at the time, was killed. Vasquez, 43, was in the shower when the truck plowed through the house, and is listed as stable at a local hospital.

Police say Tutt was driving drunk at the time of the crash and have arrested him on an intoxication manslaughter charge. He was not injured in the accident.

A passenger in Tutt's truck, 24-year-old Shebreka Tutt, also wasn't hurt. The passenger was arrested for public intoxication.
