FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The wife of a Fort Worth store clerk who was shot and killed on Saturday spoke out on Wednesday after police announced a suspect was in custody.

Fort Worth Police said Christian Silva, 20, turned himself in Wednesday afternoon, days after investigators released his name and photograph in connection with a deadly attempted robbery.

Detectives released an affidavit detailing Jimmy Khela, followed Silva's directions but was still shot and killed. "Everything. He was my life. He was my love," said Mariam Rizk, the victim's wife.

Rizk thought she would grow old with her husband and watch their kids grow up together.

Those dreams she said are now gone, stripped away by the sound of a gunshot.

"Just, why? Why do that? Why?" questioned Rizk.

Investigators believe Silva walked into the Pronto Food Store on Saturday and tried to rob Khela.

"The hardest part is his 5-year-old daughter," said Sameh Khela, the victim's brother. "She's waiting for him."

An arrest affidavit reveals prior to the alleged shooting, witnesses said they saw Silva, "...consuming Xanax bars and drinking cough syrup."

Investigators also said Silva, "...fired his handgun believing that the clerk was reaching for a weapon."

Police believe Silva left without any money.

"I cannot even find a bad word fit for this guy. He's completely out of his mind. Why would he do something like this?" questioned Sameh Khela.

The family said while an arrest helps them begin to move towards closure, they said the wound they have suffered will never heal.

"Nothing without him, nothing. No life. No love," said Rizk.
