Some folks only know about fencing from movies like Zorro, but real fencing is taught to an ever widening group of students.

"Fencing is actual one of the fastest growing sports in the country.  One of the reasons is because there is a lot of opportunity for kids to go on to college" said Owner and Head Coach of Lone Star Fencing Michael Kim.

They start teaching fencing as young as five years old, but students come in all ages and expertise levels.

"Most of my students are mostly younger kids, but we do have a lady over there and she is fifty years old" Kim added.

"These guys are fast, but I can wear them out.  That's the old people way, sneaky" said student Sylvia Pas.

Real fencing is nothing like you see in the movies.  It's all about control blended with accuracy, and safety is always at the forefront.

"It's not sharp, but pointed enough it could injure you" Kim noted.
