Little Elm High Students Stage Another Walkout After Returning For 1st Time Since Protest 10 Days Ago
LITTLE ELM, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - Classes are back in session at Little Elm High School Monday, Nov. 29, but about 50 of the 2,500 students are not.
Two police cruisers were out in front of the school as students arrived back.
At around 9:25 a.m. today, the students staged another walkout. It is currently unclear what their demands were or what was being protested.
Little Elm ISD officials said that the students were met outside by Superintendent Daniel Gallagher, school board member Dr. Monique Thompson, and Town of Little Elm Mayor Curtis Cornelious, who met listened to their concerns.
The ISD said it was aware of another protest happening based on posts from social media.
On Friday, Nov. 19, the last time the campus was open, a student-led walkout resulted in police using paper spray and Tasers on some students.
Little Elm ISD said some of the protesting students assaulted officers.
Four students were arrested.
Students were demonstrating in support of a fellow student who said she was a victim of harassment and sexual assault.
