Lawyer For Teen In Bathing Suit Thrown To Ground Wants City To Do More

McKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - 15-year-old, Dajerria Becton, the girl who was thrown to the ground and held there with a knee on her back by Corporal Eric Casebolt, has a lawyer.
Wednesday afternoon, attorney Hannah Stroud said the resignation of Corporal Casebolt should not mean the end the investigation into his actions. Stroud says she wants to work with the city and police department to make sure a thorough investigation takes place.
She says her client, Becton is shaken up by the incident and all the attention she's gotten. Stroud says Becton's gone from an anonymous teenager in McKinney to someone known around the world.
Stroud says Becton has had a hard time sleeping and eating lately and is mostly staying at home under the watchful eye of her aunt, her legal guardian.
Stroud stresses her client did nothing wrong and no one has suggested she had done anything wrong at the pool party. Stroud says Becton was not tresspassing. She was attending a party she was invited to. Stroud says Becton left scene when asked to, but when she came back and asked if she could get bag, she was shoved to ground and handcuffed by Corporal Casebolt.
Stroud says the manner in which she was treated was inappropriate and excessive.
Stroud says she hopes the McKinney Police Department will consider possible additional training for police officers.
She says she does not know if she will pursue legal action on Becton's behalf.
