DALLAS (AP) - Larry Brown is ready to return to the bench after No. 18 SMU went undefeated during the Hall of Fame coach's nine-game suspension to start the season.

Brown will be in charge again when the Mustangs play Kent State in the semifinals of the Las Vegas Classic on Tuesday night.

He said Monday he "didn't realize 33 days went so slowly," referring to how long he was banned from contact with his team.

Brown was suspended and SMU banned from postseason play after a September report when the NCAA ruled that a former men's basketball administrative assistant completed online course work for a student to meet eligibility requirements.

Associate coach Tim Jankovich ran the team in Brown's absence. He's been considered the coach-in-waiting since Brown was hired in 2012.
