Kaufman Murder Suspect's Request Denied

ROCKWALL (CBSDFW.COM) - Eric Williams returned to court on Thursday morning with a major request. He asked the judge to permit him to take a deposition of his co-defendant, his ex-wife, Kim Williams. The couple are the suspects in the Kaufman County triple murder case that left District Attorney Mike McLelland, his wife and one of his top assistants dead last year.

Eric Williams appeared in the courtroom in Rockwall on Thursday morning, but he did not say anything.

The suspect's attorney told the judge that he would not ask Kim Williams about her alleged role in the three murders, only about the couple's prior relationship. However, an attorney for Kim Williams said that she would not answer any questions under her Fifth Amendment right.

Kim Williams was not present on Thursday morning.

Because of the refusal to answer questions, the judge sided with Kim Williams and denied the request from Eric Williams.

Jury selection in this case is scheduled to begin on September 22, with the trial set for December 1.
