North Texas law enforcement agencies continue search for Logan Jacinto after car crash
KAUFMAN COUNTY - Several North Texas law enforcement agencies are searching for a man who was last seen on Jan. 2.
Logan Jacinto, 40, was involved in a car accident on Jan. 2 just after 8:30 p.m. near Highway 175 and Jiba Road. A witness of that crash told officials that the driver of the vehicle ran from the location.
His wife got a text from him saying it was raining but that he would make it home. But his family says witnesses told police he lost control of his car and slammed into a guardrail.
He was reported missing by his wife on Jan. 3 just before 7 p.m. A few hours later, Kaufman County Sheriff's deputies returned to the scene of the accident. They say no one was found in the wooded area.
"We've just been out there nonstop rain cold night dark it doesn't matter we're out there searching for him," said Sydonia Jacinto, the sister of Logan Chance Jacinto.
On the morning of Jan. 4, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office deputies, Texas Parks and Wildlife Officers, DPS Air 1, Kemp and Mabank Fire Department dive team and Kaufman police continued searching the crash site area, the creek and surrounding woods. Again, they didn't find anything or anyone.
"It's very emotional our hearts are heavy, we're scared that he's just out there hurting," said Sydonia Jacinto. "He's in pain, he's cold, we just feel like he doesn't know that we're out there looking for him."
The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office says they'll continue to search for him.
"We have hope that he's still hanging on waiting for us to come find him," said Sydonia Jacinto.
Since the crash, Jacinto's family has organized their own volunteer search parties. This afternoon, volunteer Alfonso Solis is helping to lead the search.
"We need as many boots on the ground to line up and we're gonna go into the fields, go into the woods, look for anything and everything that's not supposed to be there," said Solis.
The volunteer effort is giving Jacinto's family hope that he's still alive.
"He's strong, he's a survivor," said Sydonia Jacinto.
KCSO says a team of Texas Parks and Wildlife Officers and K9s will resume searching on Jan. 6.
The investigation into the disappearance of Jacinto is ongoing.
