Jones Says Romo Injury A "Setback" But Doesn't Kill His Optimism For 2016 Season

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Even though Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admitted that losing starting QB Tony Romo to a back injury in the preseason is a setback - it doesn't kill his optimistic view for a successful 2016 season.
Despite another injury that will sideline his star quarterback for several weeks in the regular season, Jones is confident that Romo is not ready for retirement.
"I don't expect this injury to cause him to retire" said Jones. "I have every reason to believe that this injury is not one that would compound his situation."
But how long will it be before the 36-year-old Romo is ready to return to playing for the Cowboys? "I don't know" said Jones. "I don't know if anyone does. 4 to 6 weeks...6 to 8?"
Moving forward to the final game of the preseason vs Houston on Thursday, Jones says the Cowboys will "go into the game with what we've got," for quarterbacks and will "check the waiver wire" afterward.
As of Tuesday, the Cowboys have not placed Romo on injured reserve.
"We are getting other opinions to give us a better feel for the length of time that we may be looking at as to weather we put him (Romo) on IR or not" said Jones.
