Jones' 3 Rushing TDs Lead SMU By Tulane 49-21

DALLAS (AP) — Xavier Jones ran for 117 yards and three touchdowns, Matt Davis added 156 yards rushing and a score, and SMU beat Tulane 49-21 Saturday night.

SMU had 323 yards on the ground with six touchdowns.

Prescott Line and Braeden West added rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter for SMU (2-9, 1-6 American).

SMU took a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter when Zach Wood blocked a field goal and R.C. Cox returned it 66 yards for his first-career score. Davis had a 13-yard touchdown on a run later in the quarter and SMU scored 21 straight in the second quarter for a 35-7 halftime lead.

Jones had touchdown runs of 1, 5 and 35 yards in the second quarter.

Tanner Lee was 9-of-22 passing for 103 yards and a touchdown for Tulane (3-8, 1-6).
