Jim Nantz 'Astonished' By Interpretation Of Manziel Comments
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- The sports world exploded when NFL sportscaster Jim Nantz made comments about the Dallas Cowboys' interest in Johnny Manziel.
On a radio appearance in Cleveland, Nantz said he has heard rumors for a month that Dallas "will figure out a way to get Manziel."
Nantz joined New School with Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan Tuesday to clarify.
"Rumor -- the fact that everybody interpreted that little chat I had on a radio station in Cleveland, and took it to the level they did, is just astonishing to me," said Nantz.
Headlines have surfaced across the internet, suggesting that Nantz has intimate knowledge of the Cowboys' draft plans. He says that's simply not true.
"I didn't say I have a scoop...I said I heard rumors for a month," said Nantz, who was at the Final Four one month ago.
Nantz recalled reading an article in the Dallas Morning News about the Cowboys having interest in Manziel. The same can be said about a number of teams in the NFL -- a point that Nantz was trying to make previously.
"You hear things about Johnny Manziel going No.1 to Houston; you hear him definitely going to the Browns. I've even heard him going to the Oakland Raiders. I've heard rumors that the Cowboys will do anything they can possibly do to move up and draft him. That was in the body of that content."
So where does Nantz think Manziel end up?
"My answer was -- and it remains the same -- I have no clue."
