FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) – Jerry Jones and the Jones family, along with Dallas entrepreneur Rob Wechsler, announced Monday the launch of Blue Star Accelerator.

A news release from the Dallas Cowboys described the venture as a "first of its kind accelerator and investment venture for early stage businesses in the technology, sports, and entertainment industries" at The Star, the Dallas Cowboys Corporate World Headquarters, in Frisco.

The program will give a number of hand-selected sports, technology and entertainment specific companies an opportunity to capitalize on the resources and relationships of two industry leaders under the same roof, the release explained.

"The vision for the Star was to bring incredible opportunities not only for the Jones Family businesses, but for the sports industry as a whole," said Dallas Cowboys Owner, President and General Manager Jerry Jones. "We are constantly looking to innovate, evolve and utilize our resources in the most effective way possible. Rob Wechsler is the ideal entrepreneur to partner with us to bring the vision of Blue Star Accelerator to life. We see this residence incubator program as a perfect match for what we are doing with our headquarters and our business as a whole."

"I am thrilled to partner with the Jones family here in Frisco with a new joint mission to help young, growth- stage companies reach their full potential by utilizing our combined network and expertise," said Rob Wechsler, CEO and Founder, Blue Star Sports.

The selection process for startups has begun.

Chosen applicants will be invited to present their company to the Jones family, company executives, Wechsler, as well as other potential investors. Once selected, the companies will take residence at The Star, where they will have full access to the breadth of resources and expertise of the Jones family and their businesses global networks, according to the Dallas Cowboys news release.
