Jeff's Updates From The NFL Draft Combine

First, the most important things.  I had White Castles last night and they were delicious.  Was gonna just do a random video blog about how cold it was, because people likes weather talk but then this happened.

Also went to a place called the Slippery Noodle Inn. Used to be an Underground Railroad hub, after that it was a brothel that shut down after a guy stabbed another guy to death then left the knife on the bar on his way out. Now they make tasty pasta and have live jazz music 7 days a week. Plus this.

Weird Todd Gurley story surfaced today about how he was refusing to do medicals for teams on his knee that he's rehabbing. The story isn't really a story, here's the real one:

Bryan Broaddus @BryanBroaddus • "Being told about Gurley. It is common not to pull or twist on a knee that was repaired 3 months ago. Teams understand this and are okay."

You can trust the guy that tweeted that. Todd Gurley's medicals were no problem, he'll be rechecked in April by teams.

Offensive Line and Tight Ends were the groups on the field for their workouts today. The guys who moved the best and helped themselves compared to their peers were TJ Clemmings (Pitt) and La'El Collins (LSU). Clemmings I talked to and he said he interviewed with the Cowboys yesterday. I'll try and get the scouting report up on him tomorrow, he's the best OT I've watched and played RT at Pitt, which just so happens to be the position the Cowboys don't have occupied at the moment. Another first round OL? Why not. Throw his name in the mix. Other guys I talked to that will be interviewing (or already have) with the Cowboys included Bud Dupree (LB/DE Kentucky) and Owa Odighizuwa (DE UCLA)

Another big happening is Maxx Williams (TE from Minnesota) ran his 40 and the first time was in the 4.9's, 2nd run was in the high 4.7's. I would advise people not to even worry about it. You watch him play and the guy is very Jason Witten-like. Hands are so natural, he gets open in different ways, and he runs by guys that are going to be timed in the 4.5's. His functional speed is good, you know, on a football field with pads on while guys are trying to cover him. These teams watch tape of guys and they know what a guy can do. His speed isn't an issue.

Funny moment of the day belonged to Dante Fowler (DE - Florida) when he was asked about being from St. Petersburg and if he was a Bucs fan. The quote went "The Bucs are the Bucs if you know what I mean". First guy who didn't say "oh ya I'd love to play for every team in the league, they're all awesome". Kudos to him.

Jameis at the podium today said over and over again that he wants to be the face of a franchise. He and Mariota will be both throw tomorrow. Those guys at the podium are polar opposites with neither necessarily being the right way or wrong way. Mariota was calm, confident, prepared. Jameis was swagdaddy. He's brash, he's super confident, he seems sure he is the #1 overall pick, and I think guys are going to follow this dude.

Running backs, wideouts and quarterbacks will workout on field tomorrow.  I'll get some scouting reports up and some updates for you on the morrow at those spots.

Going squatch huntin now. Carry on. @jc1053 on Twitter if you want to have a quality conversation.
