Benn is still recovering after undergoing surgery to repair a core muscle back in July.
Stars GM Jim Nill says Benn will be at 100 percent when the season starts, reiterating what he said after Benn had the surgery.
San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture, the leading scorer from the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs, has been added as Benn's replacement.
