IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Irving police are warning residents about skimming machines.

Skimmers read and memorize vital account information that can be removed easily, which makes users vulnerable to ID theft.

Police would not say where the skimmer was found, but said one was attached to an ATM or gas station pump.

Authorities are warning residents, if you see the anti-tampering seal has been broken, contact a store manager and don't use the machine.

Also use your debit cards as credit cards, because they don't require a pin number and have greater protections.
