IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - A man was shot and killed Tuesday night trying to fight off a robber in Irving.

Police are still looking for the gunman and said they have very little information about a suspect.

The victim and an acquaintance were having a conversation in the parking lot of the Brentwood apartments on south Nursery Road around 7:20 p.m. when it happened. Police said two suspects walked up with handguns and demanded their wallets.

The two victims tired to fight back, and during the struggle one of them broke free and began running away. At that point police said one of the attackers fired off multiple shots, striking the victim. He was taken to Parkland Hospital, but later died.

Irving police are looking for both suspects - witnesses described seeing a dark colored, four door vehicle driving away from the apartment complex.

Police said they're hoping someone will come forward with information and call headquarters.
