Irving Man Dies After Assault In D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBSDFW.COM) - A man from Irving was pronounced dead after an attack in the nation's capital this past weekend. It happened early Saturday in the 700 block of Fairmont Street Northwest.

The Metropolitan Police Department was called about a fight at that location. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male who was unresponsive. He was transported to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Kassahun Abebe Edo from Irving.

Investigators stated that Edo was involved in some type of altercation, and was assaulted. During that attack, the man fell to the ground and struck his head on either the sidewalk or a curb.

Police have not made any arrests in this case, and are currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to a conviction. The case is being treated as a homicide. Authorities are not sure how many suspects were involved in the fatal attack.
