Interactive Map: Coronavirus Restrictions Vary Greatly Across North Texas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - While most states have mandated closures in response to COVID-19, Texas is largely leaving it up local governments to decide how to proceed.

CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS INTERACTIVE MAP BELOW

In North Texas, that means many neighboring cities and counties might have drastically different restrictions on community gatherings and whether businesses are allowed to remain open.

Governor Greg Abbott said he was confident that cities will make the best decisions for their communities.

COLLIN COUNTY:

All persons ordered to stay home, except for travel related to essential activities.
Social gathering limited to 10 or fewer people, staying 6 feet away from one another, and keeping with hygienic practices set up by the CDC
All businesses can remain open provided they follow guidelines from the county and the state.
Anyone who experiences COVID-19 symptoms are also ordered to stay home for at least 14 days unless they are leaving to get medical treatment. The 14-day period starts on the first day symptoms started appearing. Those with symptoms are also being told to stay at home for at least 72 hours without the use of medicine after those symptoms have improved.

DALLAS COUNTY:

Prohibits residents from leaving their residence unless for an "essential activity"
Residences include hotels, motels, shared rentals and similar facilities
All public or private gatherings of any number of people occurring outside a single household or living unit are prohibited.
All non-essential businesses operating within Dallas County are required to cease all activities at facilities located within the county. However, businesses can continue operations consisting exclusively of employees or contractors working from home.
Restaurants, microbreweries, micro-distilleries, or wineries still may only provide take out, delivery, or drive-through services.
Religious and worship services may only be provided by video and teleconference. Religious institutions must limit in-person staff to 10 people or less when preparing for or conducting video or teleconference services, and all individuals must follow the social distancing guidelines.
All elective medical, surgical and dental procedures are prohibited anywhere in Dallas County.
Hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, dental offices and other medical facilities are directed to identify procedures that are deemed "elective" by assessing which procedures can be postponed or canceled based on patient risk.
For purposes of this order, the following are deemed essential activities:
- To engage in activities or perform tasks essential to their health and safety,
  or to the health and safety of their family or household members (for example, obtaining medical supplies or medication, visiting a health care professional, or obtaining supplies need to work from home).
- To obtain necessary services or supplies for themselves and their family or household members, or to deliver those services or supplies to others (for example, food, pet supply, and any other household consumer products, and products necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences.
- To engage in outdoor activity, provided the individuals comply with social distancing requirements of six feet (for example, walking, biking, hiking, or running).
- To perform work providing essential products and services at an Essential Business or to otherwise carry out activities specifically permitted in this order.
- To care for a family member or pet in another household.
For purposes of this order, "essential businesses" mean:
- Essential Healthcare Operations
- Essential Government Functions
- Essential Critical Infrastructure
- Essential Retail
- Providers of Basic Necessities to Economically Disadvantaged Populations
- Essential Services Necessary to Maintain Essential Operations of Residences or Other Essential Businesses
- Childcare Services

DENTON COUNTY:

All persons ordered to stay home, except for travel related to essential activities.
Residences include hotels, motels, shared rentals and similar facilities
Grocery stores, gas stations, pharmacies, transportation systems, nonprofits, shelters, daycares facilities, and other essential services remain open.
Restaurants continue operating drive-thru, takeout and delivery services
Bars, lounges, theaters, bingo halls, gymnastics and martial arts studios, nail and hair salons, tattoo and piercing shops, massage parlors, tanning salons, malls, and all other businesses that do not sell essential household items are temporarily closed.
All non-essential businesses can continue operations consisting exclusively of employees or contractors working from home.
All public or private gatherings of any number of people occurring outside a single household or living unit are prohibited.

TARRANT COUNTY:

Residents are being told to stay inside their homes unless for "essential activities," such as grocery shopping or jobs. Exceptions also include outdoor exercise or going out for health reasons.
There should be no gatherings of more than 10 people regardless of the situation.
Essential services such as grocery stores, pharmacies, and other establishments that sell household goods will remain open.
Malls and other non-essential retail establishments such as barbershops, hair salons, nail salons, spas and massage parlors are closed.
Religious and worship services may only be provided by video and teleconference. The worship support staff will be allowed on site to facilitate
