GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW)—The big business boom spreading throughout North Texas continues to churn on.

This time Grand Prairie will be the city of choice for a 2nd Ikea furniture store in the metroplex.

Ikea and the city have announced the site will be off of 161 and Mayfield Rd., an area which has already been seeing unprecedented growth.

Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen said, "This is going to be a game changer for Grand Prairie."

The announcement comes with much celebration by some and concerns for other who say the big box store will bring unwanted traffic woes to a suburban city which has enjoyed a quite and slow pace quality of life for decades.

Jacquie Johnson who lives across from the construction site says she is okay with the development as long as "we can get out of our homes and get to where we need to go."

The site will be on 32-acres and offer 293,000 square feet of retail space.

One thing most people we spoke to Grand Prairie agreed on is they are all having to get used to the new look and feel of their previously sleepy town.

Mayor Jensen added, "It's the biggest small town in America...I think we're fixing to break loose."

"We are thrilled with the reception afforded us after entering North Texas more than 10 years ago, so we are excited to submit plans for IKEA Grand Prairie to extend our Dallas-area reach," said Lars Petersson, IKEA U.S. president.  "This proposed store would complement our Metroplex presence established in Frisco and bring the unique family-friendly shopping experience closer to customers in other parts of the Dallas-Fort Worth area."

IKEA also will evaluate potential on-site power generation to complement its renewable energy presence at nearly 90 percent of its U.S. locations.
