FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Your mailbox may be empty this afternoon, and if it is, it's likely due to the icy conditions.

Although all North Texas post offices were open, unless power outages or impassable road conditions dictated otherwise, some mail delivery services were expected to be temporarily delayed.

Employees were said to be working around the clock to process and deliver mail, but the USPS warned in a written statement that in "locations where roads are unsafe for travel due to closure by local emergency officials, mail delivery services may be temporarily curtailed until normal conditions are restored."  USPS customers were notified they can pick up undelivered mail at their local Post Office.

Customers were also advised to clear their mailbox area, sidewalks, steps and porches of snow, sleet, slush, ice and debris.  USPS employees will not deliver mail to blocked mailboxes.

Customers can call the Postal Service's toll-free number 800-ASK-USPS (800-275-8777) or the TTY number 877-TTY-2HLP (877-889-2457) for help with any postal related questions they may have.
