DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - There's a Super Bowl coming to the Cotton Bowl at Dallas Fair Park. No, not that Super Bowl, but the self-proclaimed South Dallas Super Bowl pitting the Lincoln Tigers against the Madison Mighty Trojans.

The two schools are in south Dallas but they don't have a neutral high school stadium of their own -- they've met in Oak Cliff and Pleasant Grove. This year they'll finally play in South Dallas at the Cotton Bowl.

"Oh, I plan to be there on the front row. 50-yard line!" claims Madison grad Lucy Cain, who says the two teams playing in the Cotton Bowl will give students and alums a stronger sense of community. "And the other part is it gives us all an opportunity to have sort of like a homecoming. Which is really phenomenal!"

Across the street from Lincoln High School, at her candy stand inside the Good Times Barbershop, Carolyn Pickens hopes a greater sense of community will inspire Lincoln students to be more productive. She says she's seen too much fighting. "Might stop some of the violence and the kids will go to the game if they see something named after them," she says adding, "I think it's great."

Park Board Member Tiffinni Young is a Lincoln grad. "This increases the number that can attend the game," she tells CBS 11 News. She also acknowledges there could be a lot of empty seats in the cavernous stadium. Still, it's a bonus for both schools.

"This is also helpful for our older alumnae who may not travel--it used to be in Oak Cliff--and so to have the game in South Dallas is very important," according to Young.

Council member Carolyn Davis appointed Young to the Park Board. Davis is a Madison grad and is all on board, too. "You've got a great stadium there, it's ready to go, and let the teams gear up and bump heads," she enthuses.

But what about the NFL? Isn't it very protective of the trademarked name "Super Bowl?" "It's South Dallas, the South Dallas Super Bowl. It's been named the South Dallas Super Bowl since... the early '70s," an historical moniker, according to Davis, something folks here just started calling it.

CBS 11 News asked the NFL about that. No response so far. The game is set for the Fair Park Cotton Bowl on November 7.
