HALTOM CITY (CBSDFW.COM) -- Authorities have arrested a man in Haltom City suspected of killing a Hurst woman on Friday morning in an apparent domestic dispute.

Just before 10:30 a.m., Hurst Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 700 block of E. Pecan on a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers noticed that forcible entry had been made into the apartment.

Inside, officers found a deceased 43-year-old woman.

An investigation led police to believe that the homicide stemmed from an incident of domestic violence.

Police identified the suspect and made contact with him at a residence in Haltom City in the 1300 block of Clarence. Due to the proximity of the suspect's location to Nathan Howell Elementary, the school was temporarily placed in lock down. The school was later dismissed on schedule.

The suspect was taken into custody.

Police have not identified the suspect or victim. An investigation by Hurst Police is ongoing.
