ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - The Rangers have always known Nomar Mazara would be a huge part of their big league club, they just didn't expect it to happen so soon.

The rookie was thrust into the big leagues earlier this season when Shin-Soo Choo went down with a calf injury.

Mazara has responded by having the best month ever for a Rangers rookie.

The rightfielder was named AL Rookie of the Month on Monday after hitting .324 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI in 18 games (68 AB).

Mazara's start compared to some of the games' brightest young stars is very favorable. Here are those players stats through their first 18 games in comparison to Mazara:

Mike Trout: .200 average, 2 home runs, 7 RBI in 55 AB.
