FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The news keeps getting better, slowly but surely, for the Fort Worth officer shot in the line of duty three weeks ago.

The latest update on Officer Matthew Pearce's GoFundMe page says he's off oxygen, is walking with his walker and even getting outside some.  He's still got a ways to go, though.

Pearce was shot Tuesday, March 15 while part of a fugitive task force serving warrants.

Here is the latest information on Pearce's progress from his family:

Update: Matt continues to do well and is off oxygen! He has been walking 10-15 feet with his walker and has been able to go outside the past several days and get some much needed sunshine. He's still eating good and was just cleared to drink thin liquids. Yay no more thickener! We are still needing to investigate his aorta further and he's getting a small fluid collection around his lung. As I write this, he is going for an Intravascular Ultrasound to get a look at his aorta from the inside. They are also going to scope his chest to clean out the fluid collection as well as go in and debride his abdominal incision and change the wound vac. Please keep him in prayer and he was very anxious going into it.

Specific prayer requests: Please continue to pray that Matt's aorta is ok and that he will not need major surgery to repair it. We want to keep our momentum and not have to undergo risky surgery and then recover from it. Please Lord! Please pray that his abdominal incision will heal well and quickly with no infection. Please pray that any fear or anxiety about being in the hospital would not affect him. And last, please pray for strength and endurance to do physical therapy so we can run on out of here!!
