Hit-And-Run Driver Stood Over Critically Injured Victim, Then Left Him Lying In The Street

**Update**Update**Update** 05/09/19 **ARREST MADE IN HIT AND RUN INVESTIGATION** Investigators have arrested a man believed to be responsible for the hit and run that left the victim in critical condition. On May 8, Garland Police responded to a hit and run in the 4300 block of Action Street where a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Officers learned the pedestrian, identified as 29 year old Travis Gray, was standing on a ladder in the roadway attempting to secure a vehicle onto a vehicle trailer. Investigators recovered video that showed the driver of a blue minivan strike Gray, exit the vehicle, look at Gray, and then flee from the scene without rendering aid. The video also showed substantial damage to the right passenger side of the minivan. Gray was transported to the hospital where he is still in critical condition. This afternoon, May 9, investigators received a tip on the possible location of the minivan. A 2006 Toyota Sienna was located and confirmed to be the involved vehicle. Additional information led Investigators to identify the driver, believed to be responsible for the hit and run, as 35 year old Miguel Angel Castro, a resident of Dallas. This evening just before 7:00 pm, Castro was located and arrested in the 13400 block of TI Boulevard, in Richardson, Texas. Castro is currently in the Garland Jail with charges of Failing to Stop and Render Aid – Serious Bodily Injury and Possession of Methamphetamine. He was also found to have a felony warrant out of Dallas County for Bond Forfeiture/Possession of a Controlled Substance. No bond has been set. On May 8, at 12:45 pm, Garland Police responded to a hit and run in the 4300 block of Action Street. Upon arrival officers observed a male subject lying in the street suffering from a head injury. The male was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition. Traffic investigators recovered video showing a dark blue in color minivan driving on Action Street. It appears the male who was struck was on a ladder in the roadway attempting to tie a vehicle down to a trailer. The video captures the minivan striking the male who was on the ladder. The driver stops, exits the minivan, approaches the male on the ground, returns to his vehicle and drives away. Investigators are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the driver of the minivan. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Garland Police Department at 972-485-4840.
