High Waters Flood Homes & Businesses, Washes Out Bridge

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Once again, rain and high water caused damage at homes and businesses on Thursday.
Justin convenience store owner Farida Karim stands just over five-feet tall. She says the water in her store rose almost to her hips.
Karim says she say what was happening on surveillance video and rushed to the store. After 16 years on the same corner, she says this has never happened before.
Karim said her store has been left in ruins. "I feel really bad because I don't have any help. My husband passed away two years ago. Now I have to do it alone right now. I lose my business and I can't survive like that. I can't do it."
In other parts of North Texas, a Johnson County bridge, that's the only access to several homes, was washed out.
The bridge is on Highway 171 near exit 305, close to Grandview. Concrete inside the bridge's culverts broke under pressure and parts of the road are now caving into a creek.
Just to make exceptionally clear, ppl are stuck with the bridge out. But they are in NO danger. Inconvenienced till we get new bridge in.

Jamie Moore, director of Johnson County Emergency Management, said, "We've worked to be able to install a temporary road and a temporary bridge over this creek, so that these residents will have access in and out."
The bridge is the only access for seven homes in that area. Moore says officials have checked on residents in the area and no one was injured.
