Record-breaking temperatures expected in North Texas this week
NORTH TEXAS (CBSNewsTexas.com) — Heads up, North Texas! This week is likely to be the hottest of the year...so far.
Temperatures this week are likely to break records; however, the official high for Monday peaked at 105 degrees—one degree short of tying the 2012 record.
Monday also marked the area's 23rd triple-digit day this year, and the eigth triple-digit day in a row.
The First Alert Weather team is also forecasting a record tie on Tuesday, and while the records should be safe Wednesday through Friday, it will still be dangerously hot.
The Excessive Heat Warning is in effect through at least 8 p.m. Tuesday, but will likely be extended through Friday.
Alos of note, North Texas will have our first Red Flag Warning of the summer Tuesday and Wednesday, emphasizing just how critical the fire threat is along and to the west of I-35.
Luckily, by early next week, North Texas will see this streak of triple-digit days come to an end.
And the pattern change will bring some much welcomed rain to the area.
Until then, stay cool and safe!
