High-Speed Chase Ends With Crash In Mesquite

MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Dallas were involved in a high-speed chase early Thursday morning that ended in a crash along the westbound side of Interstate-30 in Mesquite. It happened just after 5:30 a.m. near the intersection with Gus Thomasson Road.

Authorities said the chase stemmed from a robbery in the 11700 block of East Northwest Highway.

There were two suspects in the pickup truck that was being pursued by officers. One of those suspects was taken into custody at the scene. The second suspect fled from the scene on foot.

Several officers surrounded Celebration Station in Mesquite later on Thursday morning. Some of them could be seen coming and going from the building with police dogs, and other officers were on top of the building. A security alarm could be heard sounding.

But officers then rushed from Celebration Station and were able locate and arrest the final suspect along the service road of Interstate-635. He was taken to a police car and checked out by medics. He appeared to have cuts and scrapes on his head. Both of the suspects were taken to nearby hospitals and are expected to recover. They will be charged with robbery and evading arrest. Their names have not been released.

Meanwhile, the westbound side of the interstate was shut down while investigators were at the crash scene. It has since been opened back up to regular traffic.
