HEB ISD Principal Now In Federal Custody

PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - The HEB Independent School District principal, who is on leave after he was arrested by police in Frisco for online solicitation of a minor, is now in federal custody.
Oscar Figueroa is charged with federal child sexual exploitation. Authorities stated that he made arrangements to meet with what he thought was a child for sex. Instead, it was an undercover police officer.
Figueroa bonded out of the Frisco jail on Wednesday, but was re-arrested by Homeland Security agents on Thursday.
It is not yet clear if the second arrest is part of a new case or the same one that authorities have been investigating.
The 46-year-old suspect came to Viridian Elementary School in Arlington when it opened in 2014, as the principal from another HEB ISD elementary school. He has been an educator for more than 20 years and previously held jobs with the Little Elm Independent School District and the Richardson Independent School District.
Figueroa will remain in federal custody at least until his bond hearing, which started on Monday morning at the federal courthouse in Plano. His family was there, only saying that they were supporting him through this ordeal.
