Heavy Rains Make Travel Difficult In Prosper

PROSPER, TX (CBSDFW.COM) -- Road crews in Prosper, TX have been having problems with flooding for most of the day. Barricades have been put up to block flooded roads including on Fishtrap Road where a small creek has over-run the pavement.

Other areas in Prosper saw just as much flooding. Crews had to shut down Good Hope Road when Doe Creek spilled across both lanes. Several other roads had barricades blocking traffic, and police urged everyone to avoid the flooded areas and find alternate routes.

There were some open roads that also saw dangerously high water as well. That left drivers with difficult decisions even as they turned away from clearly blocked paths, only to find roads covered with water.

Some pickup trucks and SUVs managed to get by, but drivers like Kamil Harmon took one look at a section of Dallas Parkway and knew immediately it wasn't worth the risk. "Absolutely not. No, man. I don't want to total my car by stalling it [because of] all the water, so no, I'm not even going to consider it," said Harmon.

Harmon turned around to find another way. Severe storms were expected in the DFW area later on Friday.
